Salisbury housing charity joins BCHA family
Salisbury Trust for the Homeless – which provides accommodation for 25 people in 7 properties around central Salisbury – has joined the BCHA group.
The arrangement will help to secure a long-term future for STFH, which retains its own Board of Directors and identity while benefiting from BCHA’s infrastructure and many years’ experience of working with socially excluded people. This was recently put into practice when BCHA provided an interim project worker to cover a vacant position while STFH sought a permanent employee.
Graham Exon, Chair of BCHA said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Salisbury Trust for the Homeless to the BCHA family. It means STFH can get on with doing what they do best – helping vulnerable, homeless people in Salisbury. The relationship between STFH and BCHA is based on shared values and a commitment to provide support for society’s most vulnerable people.’
Phyllis Babb, Chair of Salisbury Trust for the Homeless, said: ‘Joining the BCHA group benefits Salisbury Trust for the Homeless and the people we support. We look forward to a productive relationship with BCHA, which shares our ethos for caring for vulnerable people. The future looks good for Salisbury Trust for the Homeless but donations are still essential to continue our work.’
Salisbury Trust for the Homeless recently received £124,000 from The Big Lottery to purchase a four bedroom house and maintain it for five years. However, donations are a major source of income – fundraising efforts accounted for £20,000 last year. The next fundraising event is the sponsored cycle ride on Sunday 25 May, which starts at Salisbury Leisure Centre at 11.30am.
