BCHA's 'St Paul's Direct Access Hostel Litter Picking Team' were pleased to be shortlisted for the Go Green Hero Award at the Bournemouth 2026 Pride of Bournemouth Awards.
The team regularly participate in litter picking events throughout Bournemouth, arranged by the Safer Neighbourhood Team on a monthly basis. St Paul's service users really enjoy participating in this activity and making a difference to their local community - it is often surprising just how much rubbish is collected each time!
Nathanial Major, Services Manager of St Pauls, commented: "Staff and residents of St Pauls are very proud of this project, so were thrilled that our hard work has been recognised.
"The litter picking sessions provide a fantastic team working event and encourage partnership working. Service users work closely with the Police Community Support Officers, which helps to break down any unnecessary barriers that our service users may have about authority figures and encourage healthy relationships with the community. We hope the sessions will continue to be a great success."
