Harm Minimisation

Drink and drugs don’t mix.  Drinking whilst using drugs is one of the top causes of overdose. Mixing alcohol with medication, drugs and/or methadone means you are 14 times more likely to overdose.

 

Needle exchanges in the Bournemouth area:

Park lodge harm reduction service and drop in is based at Park Lodge, Gloucester road, Boscombe, Bournemouth, BH7 6JF, Tel: 01202 395768

Open 5 days a week

Monday and Wednesday 9am until 5pm

Tuesday and Thursday 1pm until 5pm

Friday 9 am until 4 pm (The service closes for lunch 12:30 – 1pm)

 

There are also Outreach services available at:

St Paul’s night shelter, 10 St Pauls Lane

On Mondays and Wednesdays 2 pm until 4:30 pm

 

The Big Issue office, 51-53 Poole Hill

Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 am until noon

This service offers support and advice around harm minimisation.

There are also many pharmacy’s participating in the needle exchange Programme.

Poole Addictions Community Team (PACT), Civic Centre Annexe, Park Road, Poole Dorset BH15 2RT.

Monday to Thursday - 9am until 5pm

Friday - 9am until 4.30pm

This service offers free advice, equipment for safer injecting and vaccinations for Hepatitis A & B

 

Blood Born Virus Clinic

A Blood born virus clinic also operates at the Needle exchange, this offers testing, immunisation and counselling. Tests for Hep A, B,C and HIV on Wednesdays 1:30pm until 4pm. Another BBV clinic runs on Fridays at St Paul’s night shelter from 2pm until 4pm offering the same services.
