We’re extremely grateful to everyone who has responded to our call for cookery vlog volunteers. The range of dishes that people have produced for their videos is both inspiring and educational, but most importantly, people are sharing their passion and knowledge for cooking.
Joel Foy is one of our most prolific vloggers, having contributed seven different cookery vlogs covering a wide selection of recipes, including: a glorious strawberry shortcake milkshake, sweet and sour chicken, healthy pasta soup, tomato and basil baguette, caramel shortbread and a vegetarian wrap bursting with flavour.
Here Joel tells his own story about how he came to vlog for us:
“Hi, I’m Joel Foy. I’m a cookery vlogger for BCHA’s The Factory Community Project and I’m 22 years old.
“My passion for the cookery field only developed whilst I was living independently last year.
“In December 2020, I came to the Factory so I could learn new skills such as cooking, admin, how to support other vulnerable people and, in the long term, earn paid employment within BCHA.
“At first, the cooking vlogs were slightly difficult as I was anxious about myself in front of the camera. However, I am now more confident in my abilities. The work is useful for my depression because I enjoy new challenges and helping to inspire the community with new dishes.”
