BCHA supports Unseen UK in their demands to protect survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery

BCHA has joined Unseen UK and leading anti-slavery groups in signing a joint letter to MPs against the UK’s new Illegal Migration Bill, outlining our concerns over the impact it will have on survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. We urge that all provisions preventing survivors from receiving support are removed from the Bill.

The group of organisations that signed the letter have directly supported survivors through the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract (MSVCC) for nearly twelve years. In this time, we have supported more than 18,000 survivors, who have been exploited for profit by criminals, often organised networks, both within the UK and internationally. Were this bill to come into effect, we fear that many of these survivors would be denied the opportunities to rebuild their lives and reclaim their autonomy.
