We are excited to announce BCHA will be delivering more affordable family homes in Devon after securing the purchase of 15 homes in Sherford, built by Vistry.
The two and three-bedroom homes will consist of 11 homes at social rent and 4 available for purchase through the shared ownership scheme, an offering made possible thanks to funding from Homes England.
For the rented units, those with a local connection to the area will be prioritised to meet the specific needs of the community. This supports the affordable housing needs of BCHA’s partner, South Hams District Council.
Each high-quality home comes with a garage and an additional parking space for growing families. The homes have been built with good levels of insulation, lowering energy bills for residents.
Nigel Ingram, Head of Development, BCHA:
“We are delighted to have secured this purchase of 15 family homes in Sherford. This aligns with our strategic priority of delivering new affordable homes in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
We are thrilled that our customers will soon benefit from all that Sherford has to offer and are grateful to our partners at Vistry, South Hams District Council and Homes England for helping us to make this happen”.
Peter Sadler, Managing Director of Vistry Devon & Cornwall Regions, said:
“We are proud to be working alongside BCHA to deliver these much needed affordable family homes at Sherford. Partnerships like this are central to our commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive communities, and these homes will provide high quality, energy efficient homes for local people.
Sherford is a fantastic example of how collaboration between developers, housing associations and local authorities can help address local housing needs and support long term community growth.”
Sherford, a new town on the outskirts of Plymouth, once completed will possess 5,500 homes, a primary school, a secondary school, community facilities, sports pitches, a shopping centre, a leisure centre, transport links and extensive green space including a 500-acre country park.
