“It was a great experience meeting the Exec and the Board. I felt they listened to what we had to say regarding our presentation about the problems residents can face when they transition or move-on from being in supported accommodation and then into their own tenancy.” Dan, BCHA Customer Steering Group member.
BCHA has initiated a groundbreaking collaboration between its valued customers and Board, marking the beginning of an innovative journey towards a new business plan.
Earlier this year, a dynamic group of individuals from various BCHA communities came together to form the Customer Steering Group. Together with the Board, they are exploring potential areas of improvement for the organisation.
In May, the Customer Steering Group met in person with the BCHA Board and Executive Team. The session fostered an environment of mutual understanding and shared learning, allowing the group to delve into a range of compelling ideas and provide valuable feedback. Topics such as coproduction, the transition from supported housing to independent living, and the potential of activities to build community, took centre stage during their time together.
Lorraine Mealings, CEO said ‘We are so fortunate to have such passionate and dedicated customers giving their valuable time, energy and expertise. Together we were able to have a really productive joint business planning session with our Board and I’m really looking forward to this collaboration going from strength to strength’.
Rebecca, BCHA Customer Steering Group member said “I found the Bournemouth trip very eye-opening. We met loads of lovely people that work within BCHA. They were very accommodating and made us all feel very welcome. I enjoy being involved in the table-top discussion and hearing the different topics being discussed. I'm looking forward to the next one.”
By combining the professional expertise of the Board and Executive Team with the unique insights and lived experiences of the Customer Steering Group, BCHA is progressively transforming into a more person-centred and relevant organisation. The dedication of all involved is a testament to their commitment to continue working collaboratively, sharing ideas, and exploring further improvements in the years to come.
