New Leaf is more than an allotment. With raised beds, apple trees, poly-tunnels, a cosy teaching yurt and plenty of wildlife, it’s a peaceful and welcoming space where learning comes to life.
Our Level 1 and Level 2 Practical Horticulture courses are designed to get you stuck in from day one. Whether you’re new to gardening, looking for a career change, or just want to get more from your own allotment or garden, these courses give you the skills and knowledge to grow with confidence.
Led by experienced tutors, the sessions are a mix of practical activities and easy-to-follow theory, all delivered in a relaxed and supportive setting. And best of all? You’re learning in a real working allotment, not stuck behind a desk.

We’re lucky to have had some fantastic learners through our courses this summer. Here’s what a few of them had to say:
“I’ve worked in fashion and retail my whole life but needed a change. I’ve discovered a real passion here and learnt so much. I’ve also grown in confidence and met some lovely people.” – Seren
“It’s been years since I was in a classroom, but Miles and Viv made me feel at ease straight away. I’ve picked up loads of useful tips and now realise I can work smarter, not harder on my allotment.” – Anonymous
“The course has given me the confidence I needed to start a proper kitchen garden at home. I’ve learnt something new every week.” – Jacqueline
“Even though I’ve had an allotment for years, I still learnt loads! The tutors are fun, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I’d recommend it to anyone.” – Anonymous
“This course kick-started my journey toward a new career. I now feel ready to apply for a horticulture apprenticeship! I’ve made great friends and learnt so much.”

Whether you want to explore a new career, grow food more sustainably, or simply enjoy the benefits of working outdoors, our courses offer something for everyone. And the qualifications you earn can help open the door to further training, apprenticeships or jobs in the horticulture sector.
So, if you’ve ever thought about getting more hands-on with your growing, now’s the perfect time to dig in and give it a go.
