Simon Haskell, the new Director of Finance for BCHA, has started working with us, joining our ‘Welcome Week’ induction for his first week.
Simon is an experienced finance leader in regulated social housing with executive and non-executive board-level experience, with expertise in strategy, financial reporting and high-value development programmes. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge gained through his career, and his previous role as Assistant Finance Director at a £350m turnover organisation for the last 12 years, leading on financial strategy, statutory reporting, budgets, forecasting and large development programme delivery.
Lorraine Mealings, CEO of BCHA said “We are delighted to have Simon join us, bringing all of his expertise and knowledge to help shape BCHA. I know that he will be a great addition to the team and am really pleased to be welcoming him this week.”
To help with his transition into this important new role, Simon will have a couple of weeks’ handover with Martin Lucas, our current Director of Finance, who will be retiring at the end of the month after nine years in the position.
Simon said on his first day of the new Welcome Week “Today I have had a great interesting day and met some of the teams and other new starters on the induction.
“I was so keen to work for BCHA as it is an organisation built on purpose, compassion and a belief in people’s potential. I was very much attracted by all the wonderful work that they do in the communities. Roles like this don’t come along very often and I am very excited to be making a start.”
Chris Nicholson, Chair of BCHA said "We are so pleased that Simon is joining BCHA. His housing experience will be invaluable as we continue our finance transformation journey and ensure that we have the finance to meet our strategic goal of 300 new homes”.
