Domestic abuse outreach service

Supporting people within the community

Not all victims of domestic abuse want to go to a refuge. Some victims may want or need to stay in their own homes, and therefore will need a different type of support. We offer a range of support services within the community for women and men aged 16 and over living in Poole.

Our outreach service supports victims of domestic abuse in their own homes, and in the community. Support can be provided by telephone, or where it is safe to do so with one-to-one visits in the home .We also provide support at weekly drop in sessions at Children’s Centres across the Borough of Poole.

How can the outreach service support me?

Our outreach workers can support you by providing practical and emotional support, to help you to overcome the effects of living with domestic abuse. They will also provide you with information and advice on a wide range of issues which are all aimed at keeping you safe:

  • Offer support, advice and refer you to other agencies like the police, legal services and Housing Options Team.
  • Refer you to specialist agencies such as counselling, Witness Care or Victim Support and other relevant support networks in the community.
  • Provide you with ongoing support and safety planning, and support you in keeping your property secure.

Who can receive support from BCHA’s Outreach Services?

Any woman or man aged 16 and over who has been subjected to any form of domestic abuse, and has a local connection to Poole.

How can I be referred to the Outreach Service?

You can refer yourself to the service. Alternatively any agency you may be working with such as the police, a health worker, GP or social worker can refer you.
