What we do 

Our role is to support customers explore their skills around: budgeting, maximising income, reducing debt, improving and maintianing good health and well being, keeping self/others safe, learn new transferrable employability skills and source appropriate accomodation. 

Whilst planning for move on we will encourage customers to intergrate into the local community and to positiviley contribute to the neighbourhood in which they live. Our person centred support is offered around the clock, every day of the year by highly qualified professionals with a wealth of skills and experience, delivered within a solution focused approach. 

Our aims 

Our team works in partnership with Plymouth City Council, and once you are reffered, we will support you to either maintain your accomodation, or support you to find appropriate and affordable move on options. 

Am I eligible for this service?

The criteria is that you are either single and homeless or are a family living in Plymouth, who are either homeless or struggling to maintian current accomodation. 

How does Plymouth Temporary Accomodation work?

We support single homeless people by offering a room in one of our shared hosues. 

Once we have completed an initial asssesment at Plymouth City Council with you, we will call you directly if we can offer you a room. We will then arrange a time and an address to meet you, to complete an induction. At this point the licence will be explained in full and an induction pack with important numbers and essential information is provided to you. 

A support worker will be allocated to the property you live in and will carry out welfare checks every morning with you. They will meet you on a weekly basis to work alongside you to work on your goals, aspirations and to find suitable accomodation. 

We explore realistic move on options and develop skills with you, so you can confidently sustain independent living. Your designated support worker will work alongside you around all aspects of your life and build on your resilience, aiming to increase your self esteem and confidence, working with you to empower you to take back control of your life. 

How does our Outreach Support work?

We support families who have concerns about their accomodation or need to move to more affordable and appropriate accomodation. 

Our team will support you to engage with services by; making referrals, attending appointmaents, help you in understanding child protection procedures, assist with budgeting/debt advice or signposting. 

Our outreach support service can meet with you in your home or in the community and will seek to work with you to provide realistic and appropriate advice. 

We also have a family support worker who is based at Raglan Court, with a team member present during working hours. 

Both our outreach and temporary accomodation staff offer group work sessions, which we will plan with you to ensure that our groups are valid, appropriate and helpful. We also appreciate your support in planning and delivering our groups. 

Some of our exisiting groups include transferable skills, cooking on a budget, budgeting and finances.

To be referred into Plymouth Temporary Accomodation and Outreach Support Services, please attend Plymouth City Council One Stop Shop in Plymouth City Centre and ask to speak to the housing team about a homeless application and a BCHA assessment.
