The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) is a new piece of legislation from the UK government. The information requirements mean current residents living in social housing have access to information about the management and services of their housing provider.
STAIRs aims to make key information more accessible to customers and to encourage transparency from social housing providers like BCHA.
From the 1st October, housing providers must publish certain information on their website. This includes details about how we are run and governed, our performance as a provider and how we spend our money.
BCHA are committed to transparency and have most of the information required already on our website. We’ve brought all the information together in one dedicated STAIRs webpage.
On the webpage, we have broken down the information into seven categories:
- Governance
- Spending
- Housing stock management
- Performance
- Our services
- Lists and registers
- Social housing management
From April 2027, BCHA tenants (including shared owners who own less than 100% equity in their property) will have the right to request information under STAIRs. We’ll provide an update on the request process in March 2027.
To learn more, you can visit our STAIRs webpage. Alternatively, you can read the full guidelines on the GOV UK website.
If you require support accessing or understanding the information published on the STAIRs webpage, including if you would like the information provided in a different language or format you can contact us on [email protected].
